New BayBatt member: Prof. Dr. Johannes Margraf

14.12.23

We are delighted to welcome Prof. Dr. Johannes Margraf (Chair of Artificial Intelligence in Physico-Chemical Material Analysis) as new member to the BayBatt.

His chair deals with the theoretical modeling of functional energy materials as used in (photo)catalysis, batteries, and organic solar cells. To this end, his working group uses atomistic simulations and machine learning (ML). The aim of these investigations is to gain a mechanistic understanding of the function of these materials and to design new materials.

Johannes Margraf joined the University of Bayreuth as professor on September 1. Prof. Margraf sees his future in the development of ML methods for chemistry, in particular to better understand functional energy materials and predict their properties. He will start teaching in January.

His inaugural lecture takes place on January 18, 2024 at 5 pm in H14 (NWI).
