Guest lecture of Prof. Winter (MEET, University of Münster) at the University of Bayreuth

To start off the semester, we welcomed Prof. Dr. Martin Winter from the University of Münster to the BayBatt seminar last Thursday, 24.04.25. Prof. Winter is the scientific director of the Münster Electrochemical Energy Technology (MEET) research centre and one of the leading battery researchers in Germany.
Prof Winter has been working and conducting research in the field of electrochemical energy storage and energy conversion for 30 years. His focus is on the development of new materials, components and cell designs for lithium-ion and lithium metal batteries and alternative battery systems. Since 2016, he holds the professorship for ‘Materials Science, Energy and Electrochemistry’ at the Institute of Physical Chemistry at the University of Münster.
In his lecture in front of a packed lecture theatre with around 150 students and scientists, Prof Winter spoke about the findings of his working group on the material, cell and safety considerations for high energy density lithium metal batteries .
The guest lecture was organised jointly with the Bayreuth Young Chemists' Forum (JCF).
