Bayreuth Humboldt Centre Senior Fellow at BayBatt

02.06.2025

The decision on the senior and junior fellows of the Bayreuth Humboldt Centre for 2025 has been made. Six researchers from around the world will come to the University of Bayreuth with this scholarship, one of whom will be a guest at BayBatt.

Since 2019, the University of Bayreuth Centre of International Excellence ‘Alexander von Humboldt’ (Bayreuth Humboldt Centre) has been awarding scholarships to international guest researchers who come to the University of Bayreuth for research stays. They cooperate with their Bayreuth hosts and get to know the Upper Franconian campus as a dynamic place of learning and research where interdisciplinarity and creative thinking are lived out.

The six fellows come from six different countries. "Selecting the fellows was particularly challenging due to the high number of high-quality applications from all over the world," says Prof. Dr. Stephan Kümmel, Director of the Bayreuth Humboldt Centre. "We are delighted that the number of applications has stabilised at a high level."

This year, one fellowship goes to Dr Jakub Goclon (Senior Fellow) from the University of Bialystok, Poland. In Bayreuth, he will carry out modelling work on zinc and magnesium ion batteries, which are considered a replacement for the lithium-ion batteries currently in use. His host is BayBatt member Prof. Dr. Johannes Margraf (Chair of Physical Chemistry V: Theory and Machine Learning).

Further information on the Bayreuth Humboldt Centre's fellowship programme and the other scholarship holders can be found in the University of Bayreuth's press release.
