Three UBT scientists among the most cited in their field

Three scientists from the University of Bayreuth have been included in the prestigious Highly Cited Researchers List 2025. This places them among the most cited minds in their fields worldwide.
"A total of 363 scientists in Germany were included in the list – the fact that three of them are from the University of Bayreuth is a particular success and underlines the international visibility and influence of research at the University of Bayreuth," says Prof. Dr Dr h.c. Stefan Leible, President of the University of Bayreuth.
The Highly Cited Researchers List 2025 is based on a combination of quantitative and qualitative analyses. It identifies individuals worldwide whohave had a significant and far-reaching influence on their research fields through their scientific work. Researchers whose publications in the publication year 2024 are among the top 1 percent of the most cited works in their field and year are included in the list.
BayBatt member Dr. Qingsong Wang is new to the list. He is a Junior Professional Investigator at the Chair of Inorganic Active Materials for Electrochemical Energy Storage, lead by Prof. Dr. Matteo Bianchini. Wang is advancing research into sodium-ion batteries as a cost-effective, sustainable alternative to lithium-ion batteries. Additionally, Prof. Laforsch and Dr. Martin Löder, two scientists from the Collaborative Research Centre (SFB) 1357 Microplastics are among this year's honourees.
The list is compiled annually by Clarivate Analytics and is considered one of the most important international recognitions of scientific excellence. It shows which researchers are significantly shaping the development of their disciplines through their work.
