BayBatt Graduate School Networking Day
24.11.2025
On 19 November, a networking event was held on the University of Bayreuth campus for all doctoral students of the BayBatt Graduate School with the aim of promoting interdisciplinary exchange among PhD students.
The day began with an informal get-together for doctoral candidates and postdocs, followed by a presentation of the framework conditions for a doctorate at BayBatt and a discussion of various aspects of the further development of the still young BayBatt Graduate School. The discussion focused on questions such as whether a doctoral student representative body should be established at BayBatt, how professional exchange among doctoral students could be promoted, what activities could be offered in the area of networking and onboarding for new doctoral students, and the further development of the BattTech doctoral programme.

After lunch, two sessions of scientific talks and poster presentations took place, during which the doctoral students were able to learn about each other's research questions and doctoral projects. A total of 28 doctoral students presented their projects to an interested audience of master's students, PhD students, postdocs, and professors. With a total of around 60 participants, this part of the event was particularly well attended. At the end of the day, the two best presentations and two best posters received awards, with one poster and one presentation from the fields of engineering and chemistry being honoured respectively. The afternoon concluded with a guest lecture by Anka Glenk on the topic of ‘More joy, less pressure – key ingredients for a successful doctoral journey’.
