BayBatt at University Information Day
03.03.2026
On February 12, 2026, the University of Bayreuth celebrated the 15th anniversary of its University Information Day (HIT). It started in 2012 with 15 lectures for high school students in four lecture halls – now there are over 50 program items offered throughout the campus.
The day offers prospective students the opportunity to get to know the campus and its undergraduate programs directly on site. The core of the HIT consists of information lectures on the university's bachelor's and state examination programs and sample lectures from the individual degree programs. The program is supplemented by counseling services on general study topics such as stays abroad and BAföG. During the lunch break, the student councils also provide an insight into everyday student life.
Members of BayBatt participated in four program items this year:
- Prof. Dr. Marie-Louise Arlt (Junior Professorship for Information Systems Research) gave the sample lecture “Business Informatics.”
- Prof. Dr. Christopher Künneth (Junior Professorship for Computational Materials Science) gave a sample lecture on “AI in Technology.”
- A guided tour of the Keylab Cell Technology Center was offered.
- The chairs of Electronics for Electrical Energy Storage and Systems Engineering for Electrical Energy Storage were represented with a joint booth at the technology fair organized by the Faculty of Engineering.
More than 1,500 people from over 20 schools registered this year, with the catchment area extending as far as Hof, Tirschenreuth, Weiden, and Coburg. In addition, individual prospective students from all over Germany and neighboring countries also traveled to the event spontaneously and without registering. The total number of visitors this year was around 1,800.
