BayBatt at the EU Day of the Faculty for Engineering

04.05.2026

In April, the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Bayreuth once again showcased its wide range of research at what is now the 5th EU Day. Twenty-six EU-funded projects were presented there through lectures and poster presentations.

The eleven institutions behind these projects particularly highlight the extensive network that the Faculty of Engineering has to offer: From high-performance AI assistance for SMEs to knowledge transfer in rural regions of Europe to counteract the “brain drain,” many forward-looking topics were represented. The EU Day provided a space for exchange and inspiration for over 100 participants from industry, academia, and society. In addition to information booths for the projects and funding agencies, each project was also presented to the interested audience in a lecture.

BayBatt and its members were represented with a total of four projects in the field of battery research:

  • AccCellBaT: Digitalization of Battery Testing, from Cell to System Level, including Lifetime Assessment (Prof. Dr.-Ing. Röder, Junior Professorship for Battery Management Methods)
  • SEMPATHY: Socio-Economic Metabolism Pathways for Sustainable Metal Cycles (Prof. Dr.-Ing. Helbig, Chair of Ecological Resource Technology)
  • SPACER: Shaping Porous Electrode Architecture to Improve Current Density and Energy Efficiency in Redox Flow Batteries (Prof. Dr.-Ing. Roth, Chair of Electrochemical Process Engineering)
  • WiNBat: Knowledge Transfer and Education in the Field of Sustainable Battery Technology (Prof. Dr.-Ing. Danzer, BayBatt)

Further information about the event can be found on ubtaktuell and on the Faculty of Engineering’s website (in German). Further information on the projects mentioned can be found here.
